Christ Health Center is seeking a RN / LPN / Social Worker who wants to be a part of providing high-quality, distinctively Christian care, addressing medical and spiritual healthcare needs for the underserved in Birmingham, Alabama.
This position operates out of our Behavioral Health Clinic and will provide nursing care for patients with behavioral health disorders under the direction of our staff psychiatrist.
Reporting directly to the Nursing Director for all matters, including job duties, performance evaluations, approval of leave, and for other assignments as deemed necessary for the benefit of Christ Health Center.

Major Duties & Responsibilities : Job Skills
- Plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of overall nursing care to our behavioral health patients
- Administer medications and complete patient history and disability forms, and phone-in prescriptions as needed.
- Responsible for procurement and storage of clinical supplies, medications, and phlebotomy skills preferred.
- Uses Telephone Triage Protocols for Nurses as a guide for clinical advice and defers to the provider when answers are unclear
- Refills routine medications as instructed in the nursing refill protocol
- Assists with recognizing the needs and concerns of people within their cultural framework, and maintains constructive relationships in dealing with them
- Understands CHC's relationship with the community and maintains a positive image and relationships
- Attends and participates in in-service education for staff, quality assurance program, and risk-management programs.
- Each employee of Christ Health Center is vital to providing overall quality care to our patients and may be included in the patient care team and daily huddle when deemed necessary by the Core Care Team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills / abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Qualification, Education, Experience
- Graduate of an accredited program for registered nurses.
- Current RN license.
- Current CPR certification preferred
- 1 year psychiatric or behavioral health experience is preferred
- LPN or Social Worker

ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events) and to convey the information to others.
Physical / Mental Demands
- Work requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds

- Work requires ability to stoop and bend, to reach, and grab with arms and hands; manual
- dexterity and to communicate with others.
- Work requires proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.
- Work requires ability to use a keyboard and visualize a computer monitor to enter words or data.
- OSHA personal exposure risk category II (Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned category I tasks).
- Airborne personal exposure risk category I (Possible exposure of the healthcare worker to patients capable of transmitting M.
tuberculosis). Universal precautions will be adhered to at all times.
