The ideal candidate for this position will have the skills and experience necessary to meet the following job responsibilities :
Contacts customers via telephone to inform them of delinquency, to determine reason(s) for it, and to obtain commitment to pay, negotiate payment in full or payment arrangements.
- Updates customers’ accounts on a computer system.
- Adheres to established guidelines when determining appropriate collection remedy.
- Develops and works through repayment schedules with various alternatives, in addition to explaining consequences of delinquency, to customer in the attempt of obtaining payments.
- Perform skip tracing and due diligence functions to ensure compliance of all Federal Regulations.
- Adheres to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act as well as all bankruptcy laws both state and federal.
- May also be considered a field collection job.
- Other duties as assigned.
Schedule will be either Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday 9 : 30-6 : 00 pm
Qualifications :
Requires High School diploma or equivalent and some experience in collections, customer service, preferably in banking or finance or other directly years related experience.
- Basic knowledge of consumer and small business loans, credit cards, overdrafts and collection processes.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Solid verbal communication skills, effective telephone techniques and the ability to be firm, direct, and concise, while maintaining a professional manner at all times.
- Ability and skills to effectively deal with borrowers, attorneys, and third parties while remaining professional at all times to cure a past due account.
- Solid follow-up and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize and organize work.
- Basic knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Solid math, reading and writing competencies, reasoning and PC skills (. excel, word, etc).
Supports Loan Officers in the daily management of their loan portfolios. May manage small deposit portfolio. Processes loan renewals and changes in terms as related to the Loan Officers portfolios, or own portfolio if assigned.
Requires calling customer to request current financial statements, credit reports and income verification information. Must be able to interpret if documents provided met requirements of the Bank.
Processes and compiles monthly production reports. Opens and closes accounts. Manages reporting exceptions which include collateral, material, financial, and deposit.
Obtains missing information such as signature cards, financial statements, insurance, etc. Responsible for managing the filing, correspondence, scheduling and coordinating functions to assure a smooth operational flow.
Assists loan processing, closing and monitoring, while providing quality service and diplomacy to customer relationships, to allow loan personnel time for business development activities.
Responsible for assistant duties such as but not limited to : typing, mail, answering phones, scheduling appointments, faxing, ordering supplies, assisting customers with questions, preparing desk files and maintenance of all automated reports.
