Entry-Level Structural Engineer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join our Power Delivery Substation Department in our Portland office located in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Responsibilities
The Entry-Level Structural Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and our culture.
They are expected to support the department in achieving the department goals, maintain POWER's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.
- Engage in all aspects of structural design for substations, including permitting support, preparation of structural drawings, and steel and foundation design
- Develop structural construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules
- Prepare calculation packages to meet client and jurisdictional standards
- Support substation design and physical layout
- Occasional travel
Required Education / Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an accredited university
- Familiarity with structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics, and foundation design
- Strong command of the English language with effective written and oral communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external clients
- Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education / Experience
- 3+ months of relevant engineering design or drafting experience;, could be on an internship or co-op basis
- Ability to perform calculations for sizing steel members and concrete foundations
- Experience with RISA or STAAD structural analysis design software
- Familiarity with L-Pile foundation analysis software
- Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
