Senior Environmental Scientist

We are hiring motivated individuals who enjoy working on projects from small retail stations to complex active remediation sites and have interest in supporting the Parsons internal research and development program.
We have on-going projects with oil and gas, energy, and chemical companies conducting environmental remediation throughout the US and Canada in all phases of SI, RI, and RA.
Complex projects include in-situ remediation, groundwater and wastewater treatment plants, landfill remediation, SVE systems, large scale excavations, and LNAPL treatment systems.
Responsibilities :
- Design and development of internal research and development projects focused on PFAS and other emerging contaminants
- Manage small to medium sized internal research and development projects at Parsons laboratory in Syracuse, NY
- Support projects by Preparing documents such as SIR / RIR / RAR reports with oversight, synthesize analytical data, and develop conceptual site models
- Detail-oriented, team player with good written and oral communication, analytical, organization, and time management skills
- Task management including preparation of proposals, field team management, schedule management, and project organization
- Intermittent field work may be required based on project needs
Qualifications :
- 4-year degree in a science curriculum related to the assigned discipline
- Advanced degree (e.g., Masters Degree, PhD preferred) in analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, or closely related field
- 5+ years of related work experience
- Strong knowledge of PFAS analytical chemistry including current standard methods and development of specialty analytical methods
- Ability to work self-sufficiently or as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
- History of peer reviewed publications is strongly preferred
- Experience in training and mentoring entry level staff is preferred
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER Training is preferred
- Requires a demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills
- Thorough understanding of all environmental rules and regulations

Salary Range :
