Custodian
An ESS custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school facilities, ensuring every school day runs smoothly and students can focus on learning.
In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance duties before, during, and after school hours
- Clean all areas of school buildings according to district standards, including floors, windows, furniture, bathrooms, and classrooms
- Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
- Deliver supplies and materials to appropriate areas of the building
- Complete grounds keeping duties
Bus Driver
In Jackson County, all custodians will be required to drive a bus. This will include regular morning and afternoon bus routes;
times may vary depending on route.
Benefits
Benefits will depend on total time of bus route. Routes less than 30 hours per week will not be eligible for benefits. Routes greater than 20 hours per week but less than 30 will earn sick leave, annual leave, and holiday pay.
Schedules less than 20 hours per week are not eligible for benefits.
Terms of Employment and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- State / FBI Criminal History Clearance
- Drug Screen - Varies by District
- Non-Exempt Position; 10-month Position AM and PM Bus Route
- CDL and School Bus Certification required
