As part of Hartford HealthCare's Heart and Vascular Institute, the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit's population primarily consists of patients with myocardial infarctions, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, and post-cardiac arrest.
Our Registered Nurses (RNs) are trained in the use of specialized equipment to monitor and treat these patient populations.
Some of these are : transvenous pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pumps, temporary ventricular assist devices, pulmonary artery catheters, and targeted temperature management.
The unit works closely with the Cardiac Catherization lab, Electrophysiology department, and the Cardiovascular Surgical Team.
Job Summary
In Critical Care, our Registered Nurses (RNs) are highly skilled and trained; helping to provide expertise at the bedside and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way.

Qualifications
Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.
Minimum one year Telemetry experience strongly preferred.
New Graduates are encouraged to apply through the Critical Care Graduate Nurse Program.
