They are responsible for ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of the kitchen and dining areas while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Responsibilities Food Preparation : Assist in preparing ingredients for cooking, such as washing and chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and assembling salads or sandwiches.
Follow recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistent food quality. Cooking and Serving : Cook food items according to established recipes and customer orders, using various cooking methods (e.
g., grilling, frying, baking). Serve food to customers either at a counter, buffet-style, or at tables, ensuring correct portions and presentation.
Handle customer inquiries, take orders accurately, and provide recommendations when requested. Cleaning and Sanitizing : Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment according to sanitation guidelines. Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, including countertops, cooking surfaces, and storage areas.
Stocking and Inventory Management : Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies, restock items as needed, and rotate stock to ensure freshness.
Notify supervisors of low inventory or equipment issues. Adherence to Health and Safety Regulations : Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent food contamination and ensure food safety.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines, including wearing appropriate attire and using protective equipment as required.
Teamwork and Collaboration : Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, servers, and other team members to ensure efficient operation of the food service establishment.
Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors to coordinate tasks and resolve issues. Skills and Qualifications : Previous experience in a food service or kitchen environment preferred.
Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and cooking methods. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to lift and carry heavy items (e.g., trays of food, bags of supplies). Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Education and Training : High school diploma or equivalent preferred. On-the-job training provided; additional culinary or food safety certification may be beneficial.
Physical Requirements : Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads.
