Safety and Equipment Engineer - Quattrone Nanofabrication Facility - Penn Engineering

Description

The Safety and Equipment Engineer is primarily responsible for the proper functioning and safety of the wet bench workstations in the cleanroom, along with the maintenance of ancillary lab equipment and related safety initiatives.

Responsibilities :

Oversee safety of all wet bench workstation use, function and maintenance and related documentation; other lab safety duties as assigned.

Perform general and specific preventive and corrective maintenance on wet bench workstations and ancillary lab equipment.

Diagnose equipment issues, often without established procedures

Write / update JSA’s, equipment and safety SOP’s, chemical use SOP’s.

Manage hazardous materials waste as related to wet bench workstation upkeep.

Utilize on the job training and experiences to build knowledge and skills

Work collaboratively with QNF team to solve equipment issues and facilitate continuous improvement

Work with field service technicians / coordinate with field service in person or remotely for repairs / upgrades

Manage compressed gases, including installation / removal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials

Perform continuous improvement tasks for both professional development and lab-wide benefit

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in the installation, operation, disassembly, repair, modification, and qualification of semiconductor research equipment or similar levels of diagnostic and repair experience in a comparable field.

Background in general lab safety or equivalent experience in a safety regulated field. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Must be able to work with all levels, and explain complicated information effortlessly and be detailed oriented; previous experience working with nanotechnology a plus.
