What we do :
The Sr. Reliability and Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in the development of eVTOL urban air mobility product & services solutions.
This position requires an experienced professional with expertise in the definition and application of processes and procedures in alignment with SAE ARP4754A and SAE 4761, reliability prediction calculations, management, and performance measurement within an agile product development environment.
This role works with the engineering verticals and will liaise closely with the Supernal Strategy Team to ensure requirements meet our customer & business case needs.
What you can do :
- Support design and development through requirements documentation, redundancy evaluation, and proactive design reliability liaising to ensure compliance against Supernal’s design standards
- Support and review system block diagrams, interface control documents, and electrical schematics for compliance, redundancy, and accuracy against requirements and concept of operations
- Collaborate and support the systems safety team with development of functional hazard assessments (FHAs)
- Support Design & Development Engineers as a critical partner to identify risk as early as possible through tools such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Physics of Failure Methodologies, and Analysis + Test Data Reviews, then coordinate mitigation action plans to proactively lead the Design Reliability Efforts
- Support the Design Requirements Process and develop, derive and decompose Reliability and Maintainability requirements for aircraft systems and components
- Support Development Milestone Reviews such as Drawing Reviews, SRR, PDR, CDR, and support the production hand off process with Quality Engineering
- Lead and manage the Qualification & Traceability matrix alongside Requirements and FMEA documentation
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action for issues found during R&D and Qualification testing alongside the Development, Quality and Test Engineering Teams
- Lead and support FMECA (Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis) evaluations and predictive analyses
- Perform predictive reliability analysis to calculate probability of loss of control, loss of asset, and MTBF utilizing requirements, specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs) with the FMEA and FMECA
- Perform Weibull analysis for Reliability Performance Reports
- Liaison with Quality Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure all inspection and acceptance test gates and requirements are in place and documented into a clear process
- Host regular metrics reviews to highlight key problem areas for deployed product.
- Propose and coordinate corrective actions to closure to improve data performance trends
- Partner with PMO organization to execute build plan
- Requires up to 10% of domestic and international travel

What you can contribute :
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Aerospace / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s or PhD preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Critical Item Analysis, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) plans, Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Maintainability Analysis, and Reliability Program Capability and Maturity assessments in the aerospace industry (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Experience working on Advanced Hardware Systems and Electrical Systems
- Experience setting up the Reliability Engineering initial framework for a product -front end Design Reliability Experience
- Working knowledge of ANSI / AIAA S-102 and / or DOD Instruction 3020.45 Mission Assurance standards and MIL-HDBK-217 Reliability Prediction Standard
- Proficiency with ARP4761 methods, such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), FMEA / FEMES, Common Cause Analysis Reliability Program Plans (RPP), System Reliability Modeling & Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs)
- Experience with Reliability modeling, predictive analysis, and Weibull analysis
- Experience with Cameo, Relyence, JIRA software suites
- Good understanding of Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) design and implementation Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Reporting (FRACAR) and analysis methods
- Reliability Program Capability and Maturity assessments
- Support Reliability Testing to validate MTBF / MTBUR and Dispatch Interruption Rates requirements
- Technical writing experience developing standards, specifications, user guides, and policies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
You may also be able to contribute :
- Experience or familiarity with MIL-HDBK-217 or DOD RAM Guide preferred
- Hands-on experience with Relyence Software preferred
- Experience with HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing), ESS (Environmental Stress Screening), HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening) preferred
- Experience with electric propulsion air or ground vehicles preferred
- Experience with FAA or EASA certification projects preferred
- Experience working with regulatory agencies preferred
- Aircraft, Spacecraft, or UAV Operations experience preferred
