Parsons is looking for a talented Senior Geologist / Environmental Scientist to join our team in the Rocky Mountain region! Our team uses the latest technologies and methodologies to perform environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation, delivering a cleaner, safer planet for our customers and future generations.
In this role you will get to perform a variety of geological and environmental tasks.
What You'll Be Doing :
- Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard geological and environmental science principles and theories.
- Perform independent field work and gather all types of field data pertinent to the assigned project.
- Conduct or supervise soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental sampling.
- Conduct or supervise soil classification and sampling during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activities.
- Execute field projects with health and safety as the top priority.
- Complete field documentation such as activity hazard analysis (AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, sampling records, and chain-of-custody forms.
- Assist in geologic and environmental analyses and interpretation, which may include hydrogeology and / or geochemistry.
- Analyze and interpret environmental sample analysis results within the context of the geological setting.
- Prepare figures of environmental data, potentiometric surface maps, geologic maps, and cross sections.
- Develop materials and complete work plans or reports with some technical oversight.
- Assist in preparation of proposals and cost estimates and in soliciting bids from subcontractors / suppliers.
- Work with project managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills, to ensure projects are completed on time and budget.
- May provide technical supervision or guidance to lower-level geologists or environmental scientists.
- May serve in an advisory capacity to senior management on specific geology-related matters.
- May manage site investigation projects of varying size.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What Required Skills You'll Bring :
Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field and typically 5+ years of related work experience.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring :
- A Master’s Degree in Geology or related field.
- Certification as a professional Geologist is preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of environmental consulting work experience with a mix of office experience (writing work plans, reports, coordinating field projects, etc.
and field experience (subcontractor / drilling oversight, groundwater / soil sampling, etc.).
- Familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations (such as CERCLA, RCRA, etc.).
- Ability to work in a hybrid work arrangement. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Parsons office (Salt Lake City or Denver area), virtual office at your own home, and / or project locations other states.
Ideally, the candidate for this position shall be located in the Rocky Mountain region, supporting work for Parsons’ offices in Sandy, UT, and Denver, CO.
- A valid driver’s license, the ability and willingness to travel to and from field locations up to 25% of the time.
- Should be able-bodied as the work requires some physical exertion such as extended periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces;
lifting; recurring bending or similar activities.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., hot, cold, rain, snow).
- Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills.
- Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the office or field or as part of a team.

Salary Range :
