- Demonstrates a strong foundation in positive behavior supports
- Designs and implements multi-faceted behavior interventions based on data including positive behavior support plans for identified students
- Communicates (written and verbal) effectively with parents and professionals
- Collaborates with all members of the school community
- Maintains confidentiality when dealing with students, parents, and school employees
- Understands and works with the various support systems available in the school and community
- Understands and follows district policies and guidelines when dealing with violations of the student code of conduct
- Provides problem-solving and social skills instruction for identified students

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology (or working toward). Virginia Teaching license preferred or eligible.
- Experience in training or coaching education professionals
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to conduct telephone-based or in-person interviews, data collection, and data entry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening, empathy, and relationship building.
- Ability to interact in a non-judgmental manner with culturally diverse populations and persons experiencing a wide range of social conditions.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to use sound judgment in responding to client issues and concerns.

- Knowledge of and experience with the Lynchburg City Schools organization, policies, and practices (preferred).
