Primary Purpose of the Position :

Join a team where your engineering expertise powers innovation and safety in specialty chemical manufacturing.

In this dynamic role, you will play a critical part in supporting and advancing all plant operations by providing engineering design and technical expertise across manufacturing, utilities, and waste systems to ensure safe, environmentally compliant, and cost-effective performance.

You will lead the design and execution of capital and expense projects, including equipment and process design, construction management, and cost control.

You will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading all plant equipment, facilities, and infrastructure to drive operational efficiency, reliability, and long-term sustainability.

As part of the plant leadership team you will be managing the plant engineers and directing the contract maintenance organization.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities :

Manage the engineering design for all plant manufacturing processes, environmental & utility operations including equipment design, process engineering, instrument & control design for all plant projects. Provide mechanical, civil, electrical & instrument engineering for all plant operations either with in-house staff or through the use of outside engineering firms where appropriate.

Provide maintenance services for all plant equipment through the use of contractors. Stay current with new maintenance techniques & tools & upgrade plant equipment where appropriate. This work is accomplished with 10 resident maintenance contractors, supplemented with 10 to 20 contract craftsmen as necessary.

Operate, maintain & upgrade plant electrical, stream, process water, cooling water, nitrogen & fuel gas distribution systems, as well as compressed air generation & refrigeration units in a safe, reliable, environmentally compliant & high quality manner. .

Manage & control operating costs for maintenance, engineering & utilities departments. Develop the capital plans & implement the capital budgets.

Participate in policy development & implementation for safety, environmental, quality & cost strategies for the plant.

Education & Certifications :

Required bachelor’s degree in Engineering

BS mechanical engineering desired

Experience :

5+ year’s relevant chemical industry experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Ability to manage / lead individuals & teams, manage budgets, develop / implement strategic planning.

Knowledge of utilities & water treatment operations.
