American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring high-acuity OB experience, night shifts, and strong fetal monitoring skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Birth Center within a hospital setting34 L&D beds : 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum, 4 OB ED, 3 ORPatient population includes high-acuity OB, preterm labor, C-sections, hypertensive patients, and multiple birthsPatient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines : 1 : 1 active labor, 1 : 2 non-active laboring, and 1 : 2-3 antepartum depending on acuityUp to 300 deliveries per monthShifts are 12 hours nights, with weekend rotation every other weekend, subject to variation based on needFloating may occur to antepartum and postpartum within scope and experienceUses Epic EMR (experience required), Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis, Centricity / Qx fetal monitors, and Panda WarmersNo mandatory call requirementsResponsibilities include managing labor and delivery, triaging OB patients, assisting with C-sections, epidurals, inductions, and post-partum recoverySupport staff includes CNA, scrub techs, receptionist / HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, resource RN (as available), RT, laborist, and access to anesthesia and residents / fellowsOrientation includes hospital introduction and specific unit training, with schedule adjusted for the first three weeksHoliday coverage is required in a fair and equitable mannerFacility provides scrubs, which must not be worn outside of the facilityFree badge access parking is available in designated areasFirst-time travelers may be considered upon reviewRTO (time off) requests must be submitted prior to contract approval\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license requiredCurrent BLS, NRP, and Intermediate FHM (AWHONN) certifications requiredMinimum 2 years L&D RN experience with previous travel experience (5+ years preferred)High-acuity OB experience required, including triage, labor management, and delivery of high-risk patientsAbility to circulate in the OR and perform cervical checksExperience with reading and interpreting fetal monitoring stripsEpic EMR experience requiredCompletion of cardiac rhythm interpretation exam online prior to arrival\n Benefits\n
