Our turn-key managed solutions include video conferencing, campus video distribution, distance learning applications, television broadcast facilities, broadcast automation, online interactive multimedia video, network infrastructure, video call management, and 24 x 7 maintenance and help desk support.

Yorktel is currently seeking a Sr. Field Engineer focused on a fast-paced, high-volume production and engineering department. The Sr. Field Engineer is responsible for meeting project commitments (financial and non-financial) and the overall service to external customers. Responsibilities include strategic or operational planning within field engineering, monitoring active projects, financial analysis (job cost monitoring and reporting), staff training, adherence to standard operating practices and processes.

Duties and responsibilities

This position regularly works in a team with varying levels of expertise and interfaces with internal and external customers to achieve a mutually desirable outcome. This role troubleshoots issues, makes recommendations, ensures resolution, and collaborates with the assigned team. Communicates answers to complex questions and responds to detailed inquiries about technical issues and resolutions. Protects confidential information and uses discretion per company policies and procedures.

• Provide technical support to the sales team in a comprehensive, thorough, detailed and time-sensitive manner.
• Interface with clients and job sites to document customer requirements and site conditions.
• Provide and document customer design based on client requirements and site conditions.
• Work with clients, architects, consultants and staff throughout design development and delivery, with supervisor support.
• Develop Statement of Work for each job based on system design and customer requirements.
• Develop system design drawings including audiovisual system diagrams, drawings and sketches; design / build and bid / build specifications; and operational capabilities narratives.
• Develop accurate job cost estimates for each job.
• Provide technical responses to customer RFP / RFQ / RFI.
• Collaborate effectively with other engineering team members.
• Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records.
• Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades and subcontractors.
• Coordinate and manage multiple system design projects.
• Deliver assignments on time and within budget.
• Develop and conform to company technical standards and practices. Interpret multiple formats of technical specifications, schematic drawings and architectural diagrams.
• Adhere to York-VCA policies and procedures.
• Create Scope of Work documents reflecting solution descriptions, capabilities, and limitations
• Present technical solutions to executive-level audiences at partner and client organizations
• Maintain knowledge of York-VCA processes and customer processes / procedures
• Participate in transition activities to enable effective information transfer from pre-sales to implementation teams
• Create test plans for testing solutions in York-VCA and customer labs
• Conduct testing in York-VCA and customer labs simulating live environments
• Analyze customer networks to discern visual communications requirements
• Research technical issues involving the network and audiovisual equipment
• Provide support for ad hoc and unique projects
• Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors on current and future technologies to present applicable solutions to clients
• Polycom / Tandberg / Cisco certified Videoconference Engineer (TCE / CVE / etc) certification desirable
• InfoComm CTS certification with Advanced CTS-D desirable
• Willingness to pursue additional training related to the job
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word)
• Polycom CVE certification
• Proficiency in video network infrastructure commissioning and support processes
• Knowledge of video and audio-conferencing service standards
• Ability to use AutoCAD or Visio or similar diagrammatic tools
• Knowledge of audiovisual, videoconferencing and IT products and applications
• Other duties as assigned.
