job_description.job_card.job_descriptionConducting weekly meetings with all staff. Ensuring afterschool staff and participant files adhere to DOH regulations and Bronx House requirements. Ensuring program schedule of activities and special events is effectively implemented. Maintain regular positive communication with Bronx House personnel and parents. Ensuring safety policies and procedures are in place for staff and participants. Ensuring compliance with Department of Health requirements. Attending trainings and workshops mandated by Department of Health and Bronx House. Working with marketing consultant to develop flyers to program marketing and events. Serve as a Day Camp supervisor during the summer. Assist with Day Camp planning and camper unit management. Perform other duties as assigned. Design and implement educational activities and curricula that align with the needs and interests of participants. Ensure activities are age-appropriate, culturally responsive, and aligned with program standards. Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning experiences. Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback. Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participant participation and engagement. Monitor participant progress and provide feedback to ASP Director. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on program activities and outcomes. Associates' or Bachelor’s degree in child development, education, recreation or a related field required. At least 2-3 years of experience working with school-age afterschool programs / camps. At least 2 years of supervisory experience. At least 2 years experience developing and implementing curriculum and lesson plans. Positive leadership skills and role model to staff and participants. Ability to motivate others to get results. Strong work ethic, professionalism and good judgement. Very organized, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Effectively use Microsoft Office and adaptability to learn new software programs. Successfully complete DOH background clearance. Bi-Lingual is a plus. Salary range : $50,000-$55,000. Position Summary :
This dual-role position supports the management and educational leadership of the afterschool program and summer day camp at Bronx House. As Assistant Director, the role involves staff recruitment, training, and supervision; maintaining compliance with Department of Health (DOH) and Bronx House standards; coordinating programming and special events; ensuring participant safety; and acting as a summer Day Camp supervisor. As Education Coordinator, the position focuses on developing and implementing educational activities, integrating innovative teaching strategies, supporting participant engagement and progress, and maintaining accurate program documentation. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to ensure high-quality programming and regulatory compliance year-round.
