Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 17 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Med / Surg Tele ED holding float pool position requiring a NC or compact RN license and strong MS / Tele skills. Responsibilities Work in the ED Holding inpatient unit within the Emergency Department as part of the float pool Care for adult patients with any medical / surgical diagnosis requiring telemetry monitoring Float required to the Emergency Department and Med / Surg areas as needed Target patient ratio is 1 : 5-6 Night shifts with options for 36 or 48 hours per week 13-26 week contract options available Every other weekend required as scheduled by the manager Standard equipment includes cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and monitoring systems EMR system is Epic; familiarity required Uses Pyxis for medication management and SBAR for communication ED holding unit serves high acuity patients awaiting inpatient beds Travelers expected to work as part of storm and hurricane response teams as needed Staff may be consolidated or preassigned to different units mid-contract if needed during events Up to 7 days RTO permitted if not during orientation or on a holiday; no RTO after booking Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment Orientation consists of 12 hours Navy scrubs required Cannot have been a perm / PRN / EP staff employee at related facilities within the past 12 months Current travel Per Diem clinicians at this health system are ineligible for travel contracts Candidates must be comfortable floating without restrictions Travel pairs allowed if working in different units Candidates residing under 50 miles will be offered local pay rates Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required at start Minimum 2 years of recent MS / Tele nursing experience required Travel RN experience required Current BLS certification required Demonstrated skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), rapid response team use, colostomy and feeding tube care, renal failure management, blood product administration, peripheral / PICC line care, phlebotomy, heparin and insulin administration, chest tube management (Emerson / Pleur-evac), CPAP / BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, airway management, and tracheostomy care Must pass EKG testing prior to start Epic charting experience required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-622139.
