Responsibilities Work in an ED holding support unit within the hospital float pool Care for adult patients with any med / surg diagnosis awaiting inpatient beds Night shift schedule with options for 36 or 48 hours per week Target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5-6 Frequent floating required to ED, Med / Surg, and related units as needed Must work every other weekend as assigned by the manager Patient population includes adult medical / surgical diagnoses with high acuity Unit uses cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and standard med / surg equipment Documentation and medication systems include Epic and Pyxis Team uses SBAR for communication 12-hour unit orientation provided Storm Team or Hurricane Team participation may be required during catastrophic events Responsibilities include caring for high acuity med / surg patients in an ED holding area and related float assignments Candidates must be prepared to work during disaster situations as part of hospital emergency response teams RNs are expected to support a flexible team-based environment and float where needed Navy scrubs are required Cannot be a current travel Per Diem employee with the health system Former permanent staff must have a minimum 12-month gap before applying Candidates living within 50 miles are considered locals Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays if they fall during the contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week Completion of online modules required prior to start All candidates will be interviewed due to the high acuity of the unit Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required at start Minimum 2 years recent MS / Tele RN experience Prior traveler experience required BLS certification required Must have skills in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response teams, colostomy care, feeding and renal management, IV and blood product administration, airway management, and tracheostomy care Epic charting experience required Must pass EKG testing prior to starting assignment Must be comfortable floating to a variety of units as described Maximum of 7 days requested time off, not to be taken during orientation or on holidays Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-622139.
