Position Overview
The Attorney Compliance Officer will oversee firmwide compliance programs, ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations while supporting creative, strategic solutions for national expansion. This is not a role limited to "telling us what the rules are"—we are looking for a partner to help leadership design innovative strategies that optimize compliance, business structure, and operational efficiency across a complex, multi-state practice.

- Navigating compliance in multi-jurisdictional / national law practices
- Entering and scaling into new markets
- Optimizing business structures for law firm growth, including referral fees, co-counsel arrangements, and entity management
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs, policies, and procedures firmwide.Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and bar rules across multiple states; advise leadership on strategic responses and solutions.Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.Oversee ethics and professional responsibility compliance, including conflicts of interest and confidentiality safeguards.Provide proactive training and guidance to attorneys and staff on compliance obligations.Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues or complaints.Collaborate with firm leadership to craft creative, practical strategies for risk management and growth.Advise on organizational structuring, referral / co-counsel fee arrangements, and jurisdictional requirements to support national expansion.Prepare and submit reports to regulatory authorities as required.Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Active license to practice law.Minimum 10 years of legal practice or compliance-related experience.Strong knowledge of legal ethics, bar rules, and multi-state regulatory requirements.Demonstrated experience guiding a law firm or legal organization through national growth or multi-jurisdictional operations.Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Proven ability to balance compliance obligations with business strategy and operational efficiency.Experience advising on referral fee structures, co-counsel agreements, and entity optimization strongly preferred.Why Join Us
