Workers Compensation And Safety Manager

Manages all Workers Compensation and Safety programs in order to maintain the organization's objectives relevant to compliance with all Federal, State, and Local statutes regarding employee safety in the workplace. Investigates workers' compensation accidents / injuries and safety concerns as they arise and collaborates with leadership to ensure organizational compliance. Develops and maintains all regulated safety training critical to the organization's needs.

Responsibilities

• Develops, maintains, and manages the workers' compensation program; establishes standards and procedures and implements all matters of the program, including report generation, training and communication with employees, managers, and insurance carriers
• Investigates accidents and injuries; reviews and processes claims and legal documents; participates in settlement negotiations; recommends loss control strategies; and develops strategies to handle specific cases in consultation with appropriate parties
• Manages and administers cost effective and compliant Safety and OSHA regulated programs for employees throughout all levels and departments of the organization
• Conducts and / or reviews annual safety audits and investigates safety concerns as they arise; collaborates with leadership to ensure organizational compliance, identifies variances and makes recommended improvements needed for adherence
• Investigates safety and compliance violations and collaborates with OneBlood leadership to maintain safe systems of work and implements best practices and preventive measures
• Manages and implements regulated training programs to include Risk Management, Driver Compliance and OSHA / Safety inspections; creates and reports metrics to measure the effectiveness of Safety operations
• Oversees compliance of new and existing OneBlood driver program and CDL program to include : driver qualifications, driver trainer certification and recertification and adherence to third party regulations to remain compliant with DOT regulations
• Routinely reviews Safety Management SOP's and Policies and makes changes based on company initiatives and State / Federal Regulations; collaborates with Quality Assurance final process review and distribution

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of Occupational Safety & Health (OSHA) and Worker's Compensation experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and / or experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS :

Valid and current OSHA 30-hour Certification(s) in General Industry and the Construction Industry or combined Certification in Occupational Safety and Health preferred. CDL Class B License preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 25 pounds).

Functions are regularly performed inside and / or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
