Backend Data Engineer (New York)

A large financial firm is looking for backend data engineers to join their Technology Risk Division local to New York (Hybrid 3X / Week). the Technology Risk Division has regulatory driven initiatives affecting the firms risk application. The team is globally distributed, and you will be one of 9 engineers dedicated to project. We are looking for engineers that are comfortable working in a big data environment with skills in Python and Sybase, however much of the technology is proprietary to the firm and will require you to learn on the job. In this role, majority of the work focuses on overall data quality and the flow of data throughout the firm to ensure data is shared efficiently. There are multiple work streams that you will have the opportunity to work on including, but not limited to the following :

1. Build out new data pipelines

2. Enhance existing data pipelines Implementing controls and accuracy checks to build reporting on top

3. Distribution of data to other divisions within the firm

• Prior experience or willingness to learn Slang Infrastructure (Proprietary programming language)
• Prior experience or willingness to learn Alloy for business modeling language
• 3-7 years of experience as a Backend Data Engineer
• Expertise working on ETL processes and end to end date pipeline integration
• Programming language (Python willingness to learn proprietary language Slang)
• Experience improving data quality (implanting controls and data validation)
• Database technologies - Snowflake and Sybase IQ
