General Description of Duties
The EHS Assistant works with the EHS Manager and team on the development and administration of safety programs and policies that result in company-wide compliance with regulatory agency requirements. The position promotes and acts to create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with those inside and outside the company.
Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining / updating safety documents (JSA's, SOP's, or Policies, etc.).
- Assist with safety inspections for equipment and mechanical safety guards.
- Assist with safety trainings on new JSA's, SOP's, or Policies, etc.
- Assist with implementing safety policies, such as HazCom (Right to Know), Power Industrial Truck, Hearing Conservation, PPE program, Fall Protection, LOTO, and other safety programs as well as environmental programs.
- Assist with employee work-related injury investigations and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Complete weekly and monthly inspections of Emergency Equipment (Fire Extinguisher, First Aid, Emergency Showers, etc.).
- Assist with AQMD, Storm-water, Waste-water, CARB and other permits, reporting, and regulatory compliance to ensure adherence to environmental standards.
- Track and manage AQMD permits, ensuring all reporting deadlines, additional requirements, and record-keeping obligations are met.
- Maintain and update the SDS program for Maintenance, Sanitation, and Janitors chemicals or non-product materials.
- Must be able to enter and inspect company facilities, walking into production and warehouse areas (which may be wet at times) to monitor hazards, equipment conditions, temperatures, noise levels, and employee work practices.
- Support the Corporate Trainer in delivering training programs to new organizations.
- Perform data entry and record-keeping to maintain accurate documentation of compliance activities.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure alignment with EHS policies and procedures.
- Must be able to climb ladders, bend, and stoop as needed.
- Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures pertaining to Quality Manual, Food Security / Food Defense, Sanitation, cGMP's, and HACCP / Food Safety.
- Regular, punctual attendance is required.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field preferred.Knowledge of Industrial Cal / OSHA, and Federal OSHA policies, programs, and environmental regulations (EPA); MS Office software.Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, subordinates, customers, and clients; good verbal and written English skills.Must report to any AFF facility according to company need, sometimes with same-day notice.Must have a valid California Driver License, with a good driving record and automobile insurance limit that fulfill company requirements.Additional Information
