CVICU RN Job Details – Washington, DC Location : Washington, DC 20010 – Explore the nation's capital with world-class museums, diverse dining, and beautiful parks. Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract Start Date : November 24, 2025 Shifts : 3 x 12-hour shifts per week; rotating days and nights (50 / 50 split within a 6-week period) Shift Times : Day : 07 : 00 – 19 : 30; Night : 19 : 00 – 07 : 30 Total hours : 36 per week. Estimated weekly pay : $1,770 - $1,900. Patient Ratio : 1 : 2 Setting : Short-term acute care, Level 1 Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital Unit : 2NW-CVICU (32 beds, daily census 25-32) Weekend / Holiday : Weekend shifts included in rotation; holiday coverage required Float Requirement : Float to ICU or IMC units of equivalent or lower acuity Parking : On-campus parking available CVICU Registered Nurse Qualifications Active DC RN license (pending accepted, must be active by start date) BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU, telemetry, or high-acuity nursing experience At least 1 prior travel nurse assignment completed (first-time travelers will be screened) Experience with pulmonary artery lines, Level 1 trauma, and post-op cardiac / vascular surgery preferred Ability to float to similar or lower acuity units as needed Flu vaccination required (no exemptions) Two supervisor references required CVICU RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiac and major vascular surgeries Manage and monitor advanced cardiovascular equipment, including VADs, CRRT, Swan Ganz catheters, IABP, and ECMO Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, blood products, and emergency medications Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias; provide ventilator and central line management Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion / removal, lumbar drains, and post-cardiac surgery care Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic health record system Adhere to infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled Complete required orientation and clinical training modules prior to and during assignment Apply now to join our Washington, DC CVICU nursing team and take the next step in your travel nursing career!
