Overview Description : Senior Director, Health Promotion and Navigation Services. STATUS : Exempt FT (37.5 hrs.)

DEPT : Safety and Wellness | PROGRAM : Health Promotion and Navigation Services | REPORTS TO : Chief Empowerment Officer | SUPERVISES : Coordinator, Community Health Navigators and Interns

Responsibilities Cultivates YWCA’s internal health equity and promotion Community of Practice.

Leads community health initiatives that address community health challenges and their intersection with social determinants of health.

Develops and executes community health initiatives such as health screenings, health education, and care navigation to increase personal health efficacy.

Provides information, knowledge, skills, and healthcare systems navigation assistance within a health equity framework to support informed healthcare decisions and access, positioning individuals and households to achieve optimal health and well-being.

Oversees all aspects of program operations and collaborates across departments, divisions, geographies, and external partners to integrate trauma-informed practices and primary prevention strategies.

Co-create and cultivate the YWCA’s internal health equity and promotion Community of Practice; foster collaboration and share resources, tools, methodologies and best practices.

Lead program content development and establish partnerships for program execution; regularly evaluate and refine programs based on community feedback and outcome data for long-term sustainability.

Develop and implement community engagement and mobilization strategies to make primary health prevention a core organizational strength; build relationships with local governments, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and community groups; activate community outreach and educational events to educate, empower, and engage diverse audiences.

Create awareness within target communities of primary health prevention programs and other YWCA programs / services.

Talent Management & Development Recruit, onboard, coach, develop, evaluate, and retain highly qualified staff, interns, and volunteers; model effective oversight of program performance to improve retention and program performance.

Cultivate a culture that encourages reflection, psychological safety, and continuous learning.

Fiscal Responsibility & Resource Development Co-create and manage program budgets with Division leaders, tracking revenue, expenses, and contract deliverables to ensure fiscal and program stability and productivity.

Work with Finance to analyze monthly budget reports and implement cost-saving / growth measures.

Collaborate with Strategic Engagement staff to explore and prepare potential funding opportunities; foster stewardship by assisting with stakeholder recognition and engagement.

Professional Development Complete ongoing continuing education and training as required by YWCA and funders.

Obtain and maintain certification as a Navigator – Breast Advocate, and IL Community Health Worker within 1 year of hire, if not already certified.

Qualifications Education and Experience Required : Bachelor’s degree in public health, community health, healthcare administration, or related fields with three years of progressive leadership experience; minimum of two years’ experience managing government contracts, private grants, fees and deliverable-based programs, including budgeting compliance, monitoring and reporting.

Previous experience in community health initiatives with understanding of social determinants of health, health equity, and preventive health strategies.

Experience communicating with people across cultures, abilities, identities, genders, ethnicities, and race; strong speaking, writing, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated experience with performance measurement across multiple platforms.

Intermediate level of competence in MS Office, Outlook and databases.

Work Environment The work environment includes shared office spaces and sites where children and adults are present. Noise level is usually moderate. Movement may include walking, stooping, or kneeling; may need to reach or lift objects. There will be periods of sitting, using a telephone and computers. Must have access to reliable transportation and be able to travel throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and Illinois, including regular travel to YWCA locations in Chicago, DuPage County, South Cook County and Lake County. Knowledge of Lake County and local community organizations is highly preferred. Reasonable accommodation will be provided to meet the position’s essential responsibilities.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8 : 30am–4 : 30pm. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Schedule can vary based on agency needs.
