A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a licensed Physical Therapist to join their team at one of their schools in Pelham. In this role, the Occupational Therapist (OT) will be responsible for assessing student's motor skills and developing & implementing goals designed to enhance the student's learning potential.

Patient Population : Pediatric IDD (Age 3-5)
Responsibilities :
Make observations during preliminary screening of new students, and / or ongoing evaluations of students enrolled in the schoolWrite a full description of the child's performance and behavior during evaluation referencing his / her muscular-skeletal status, postural adjustment reactions and gross motor development, as they impact on the student's ability to participate and benefit from the educational environmentMake suggestions for approaches and activities that might enhance the student's ability to participateHelp the staff identify children's specific sensory and motor skill levels including posture, gait, stair climbing and negotiation of the school environment.Develop a series of developmentally-graded activities based on evaluationCarry out medical prescriptions for occupational therapyMaintain mandated documentation of treatment and progressSubmit a written report of the progress of the children at the end of each school yearMake recommendations for IEP goals and participate as required in IEP conferencesQualifications :
Master's Degree in Physical Therapy (New graduates are welcome!)NYS Physical Therapist (PT) licenseSolid assessment, clinical, and documentation skillsPatient orientedGreat interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong attention to detailHighly organized
