The CB&I Construction Support Engineer (CSE) provides construction, engineering and consulting services to project teams, project sites, manufacturing plants, warehouses, facilities, and customers worldwide. The focus is finding solutions to construction challenges for company construction crews around the world and develop new construction processes that improve safety and productivity.
Responsibilities
CSE activities typically fall into two broadly defined areas, engineering design and construction execution support. A comprehensive understanding of all subject matter material is not required. Subject matter proficiency may include any of the following bulleted items :
Engineering Design and Analysis Applications
- Proprietary equipment development and improvement of erection equipment
- Ocean-going and over-the-road transport frame design and analysis for assemblies, modules, tanks and vessels
- Support stand and temporary support structural design and analysis for assemblies and modules
- Perform lifting calculations using jacking methods to lift structures
- Design lift lugs, rigging, spreader beams and other lifting devices
- Analyze effects of lifting and jacking loads on lifted structures
- Analyze partially erected structures for construction loading, wind loading, and stability
- Typical codes used : AISC Steel Design, AWS Weld Design
Construction Planning and Execution Support
Formulate constructability plans for erection of standard and complex CB&I structuresProvide detailed lifting and rigging specifications and proceduresDesign of fall protection systems and anchor pointsDesign of access equipmentReview site layout and logistics and infrastructure requirementsReview and develop assembly and erection methodsHeavy lift crane selectionTransporter requirements & selectionTypical codes used : OSHA, ASME B30 Cranes, Hoists, Derrick, ASME P30 Planning for Load Handling ActivitiesLocal Requirements

BS in an Engineering related discipline from an accredited school is required2+ years of experience in a field construction environment is preferred2+ years of experience with construction engineering, rigging, lift planning, etc. for heavy industry or energy related infrastructure is preferredEIT or working toward obtaining EIT, and then a professional engineering license is preferredProfessional Engineering license in at least one state is preferredSkills and Behaviors
