Senior Communications Manager

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Communications Manager to lead our internal and external communications efforts. The ideal candidate will be a masterful storyteller and an expert strategist, responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication plans that enhance our brand reputation, engage our key stakeholders, and drive our company narrative forward. This role requires a leader who can manage a team, navigate complex communication challenges, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
Strategy Development : Design, implement, and oversee integrated internal and external communications strategies that align with the company's business objectives.
Media Relations & Public Relations : Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and key influencers. Act as a primary media contact, manage press inquiries, and proactively pitch stories to secure positive press coverage.
Content Creation : Direct the creation of high-quality, compelling content, including press releases, media advisories, bylined articles, blog posts, speeches, presentations, and social media content.
Internal Communications : Develop and manage an internal communications program that keeps employees informed, engaged, and connected to the company's mission and goals. Oversee channels such as the company intranet, newsletters, and all-hands meetings.
Executive Communications : Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leadership. Develop talking points, briefing materials, and presentations for executives for speaking engagements, media interviews, and internal events.
Team Leadership : Manage and mentor a team of communications professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development.
Performance Analytics : Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of communication efforts. Analyze data and provide regular reports to leadership on media coverage, engagement metrics, and campaign results.
Brand Management : Ensure all communications are consistent with the company's brand voice, style, and messaging guidelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. 8-10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field, with a proven track record of success. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and superior editing abilities. Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic communication plans. Strong media relations experience with established contacts and a history of securing top-tier media placements. Experience in managing and mentoring a team. Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in a relevant field. Proven experience in crisis communications and issues management. Experience with C-suite level executive communications. Proficiency with media monitoring tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater) and social media management platforms. A blend of agency and in-house corporate communications experience is highly desirable. Must be a US citizen and / or green card holder and be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
