Development Director
The Development Director leads and executes the organization's comprehensive fundraising, event, marketing, and volunteer engagement strategies. This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring the Club meets and exceeds its revenue goals through special events, individual giving campaigns, corporate giving, team management, and donor cultivation. The Director will oversee a dynamic team and work closely with the Executive Director, Board, and community stakeholders to drive awareness and support for the Club's mission.
Responsibilities
Primary Functions :
Special Event Management
- Lead the planning, promotion, and execution of signature fundraising events, including the Blue Door Open Golf Outing, Annual Gala, and other community events throughout the year.
- Collaborate with vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff to deliver high-quality, mission-centered experiences that meet or exceed fundraising targets.
- Evaluate event performance and innovate for future success.
Individual & Corporate Fundraising and Campaigns
Design and implement multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email, and social media appeals.Identify and cultivate prospective individual and corporate donors through strategic moves management and personalized engagement.Work closely with staff and board members to expand the donor pipeline and deepen donor loyalty.Volunteer Recruitment and Mobilization
Develop strategies to recruit, train, and engage volunteers in fundraising efforts and special events.Create meaningful volunteer experiences that strengthen community involvement and long-term support.Marketing and Communications Oversight
Supervise the development and execution of the organization's marketing and social media strategies in support of fundraising and community engagement.Ensure brand consistency and compelling storytelling across all platforms, including digital, print, and event materials.Team Leadership and Accountability
Lead, manage, and hold accountable members of the fundraising team, including the Grants Manager and Development Associate.Facilitate team goal setting, performance tracking, and professional development.Ensure strong collaboration, communication, and alignment across fundraising, marketing, and community engagement functions.Maintain oral and written contact with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, other agencies, business leaders, community groups, external boards, and the media to exchange information and ideas, provide progress updates, coordinate events, and support fundraising efforts.Maintain accurate donation records and effectively collect and aggregate data to inform decision-making.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Skills / Knowledge Requested :
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or related field preferred.Minimum 35 years of progressive experience in fundraising, with an emphasis on special events and individual giving.Proven success in volunteer mobilization, team management, and integrated marketing efforts.Exceptional communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.Experience with donor databases and CRM systems.Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Work Environment :
Full-time, exempt position.Occasional evenings and weekends required for events and donor meetings.Primarily in-person role based in Flint, with some flexibility for hybrid work as needed.Disclaimer :
