Position Summary
This position functions under the direction of the
Site Manager
, performing a wide variety of clinical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of specialized imaging and interventional equipment.
The Registered Nurse in Interventional Radiology implements the nursing process with expanded knowledge and expertise to provide high-quality patient care. This includes addressing biological, emotional, developmental, and psychosocial needs — as well as providing patient and family education throughout the continuum of care.
Responsibilities
Clinical Skills
Provides
pre- and post-procedure care
for patients undergoing invasive, interventional, or surgical procedures.
Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving in complex care situations.
Prepares and administers contrast media per physician order and patient weight.
Administers
conscious sedation
per policy and procedure.
Maintains
sterile technique
and demonstrates IV administration competence.
Prepares trays and catheters for procedures and ensures proper documentation.
Operational Duties
Flexible with scheduling and available for
on-call hours
as needed.
Collaborates effectively across interdisciplinary teams.
Transports patients, maintains privacy, and provides emotional support.
Assists with
regulatory compliance
, documentation, and departmental records.
Supports
Performance Improvement
, QA / QC functions, and training of other staff.
Participates in
service recovery
and upholds customer service standards.
Quality & Patient Safety
Verifies patient ID using two identifiers.
Performs
time-outs
site / side marking
, and pre-procedural verification.
Complies with safety and infection control protocols.
Patient Education
Provides comprehensive patient and family education, including
post-procedural care instructions.
Qualifications
Education :
Graduate of an accredited
School of Nursing
required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
preferred.
Licenses / Certifications :
Current
Georgia RN License
or
Compact License
BLS
and
ACLS
required (Instructor certifications accepted).
Experience : Minimum
1 year ICU / CCU / ER
experience required.
Interventional Radiology
experience required.
Cardiac Cath Lab
experience preferred.
Skills :
Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.
Ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication, customer service, and time management abilities.
Proficient in basic computer and EMR systems.
