Controller Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting operations and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in construction accounting and a proactive approach to financial leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the accounting department to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly statements, forecasts, and tax filings.
- Manage budgeting processes and analyze variances to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee AP / AR, payroll, job cost accounting, general ledger, and cash flow.
- Maintain accurate work-in-progress and fixed asset reports.
- Coordinate with external CPA firms for tax returns and financial reviews.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions, insurance providers, and other external partners.
- Implement cost control strategies to improve profitability.
- Manage risk exposure and oversee insurance and bonding requirements.
- Uphold company values and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Support operational efficiency by ensuring adequate backup for key accounting functions.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of hands-on managerial accounting experience in the construction industry.At least 3 years of supervisory experience.Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.CPA or CMA certification preferred.Skills
Strong financial planning and analysis capabilities.Proficiency in accounting software and systems implementation.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Knowledge of construction estimating and job cost standards.Benefits
