SUMMARY : The role provides daily thought leadership, mentoring, coaching, and active coordination of work assignments for personnel in the team, which is a staff of 4-6 engineers. The individual in this role will interact with all phases of the New Product Development (NPD) process including up front CAD Modeling and design definition, supporting new product launches, as well as supporting new products immediately after launch. This manager is responsible for the technical and tactical leadership necessary for timely execution of Engineering initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following : (Other duties may be assigned)

- Ensures accuracy and completeness of engineering team deliverables such as DFMEAs, Factory Acceptance Tests, Alpha testing, and more
- Accountable for driving accurate and timely technical decisions with alignment from all key stakeholders
- Coordinates work with Global Engineering teams and other stakeholders to meet deadlines
- Solves interdisciplinary technical problems by drawing on experience and working with / through colleagues
- Build strong external relationships with customers and suppliers alike
Supervisory Responsibilities
Oversee and prioritizes the daily workflow of engineers and / or technicians as assignedSupports the hiring and training of new associatesConducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructiveHandles discipline and termination of employees in conjunction with Human Resources, as needed and in accordance with company policyQualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skillsHands on and unafraid to dive into problem solving in many different environmentsSolid knowledge of manufacturing and engineering fundamentalsCAD proficiency is required, meaningful professional experience in Solidworks is preferredWorking knowledge of ERPs (SyteLine is preferred) as well as PLM or PDM SystemsBasic knowledge of electrical controls, operation, and circuit design10-15 years of experience in tolerancing, GD&T and machine design in particularWorking knowledge of power transmission systems including drives, pulleys, belts, motor specification, gearboxes and moreFamiliarity with conveyors and material handling systems is preferred but not a requirementAbility to maintain positive and professional working relationships with all staff at all levels of organizationProven ability to innovate and contribute to IP portfoliosAble to interact directly with customers / suppliers at a management level, often representing the company's interestsEducation And / or Experience
Four-year degree in a relevant engineering field, preferably mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing5-10 years' experience in an applicable engineering field3-5 years of management or direct supervisory experience is preferredProficiency in modern manufacturing methods and processesLanguage Skills
Ability to read and interpret mechanical / electrical schematics and customer specifications. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Mathematical Skills
Excellent math skills are required. Individuals in this position must be able to perform engineering calculations employing algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as required.
Computer Skills
Proficient with 3D CAD Software, SolidWorks, or 3DInventorProficient with 2D AutoCADProficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and OutlookPhysical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. Employees spend time on the shop floor, which could be significant portions of the day at times and require lifting up to 50 lbs. This role also requires spending time sitting in front of a computer.

Work Environment
The employee works in the office but does have frequent interaction with personnel on the shop floor. Typical workdays are split between the two environments but can sometimes be skewed heavily towards one or the other depending on work content at any given time. The employee may also be required to travel occasionally to work in customers' plants or at suppliers. In plants, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is mixed but does not require hearing protection in most areas. This position is on site in Port Clinton, OH.
