Job Overview
The Electrical Engineer, Facilities oversees the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of the plant power distribution system, equipment, infrastructure, and utilities in a vehicle manufacturing facility. This role ensures all electrical systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for machinery, HVAC, electrical systems, and facility infrastructure.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and coordinate timely repairs; maintain records of maintenance activities and equipment history.
- Organize and produce engineering drawings for the installation and commissioning of new and existing designs in medium voltage stations, including grounding, conduits, and protection relay systems.
- Collaborate with facilities maintenance technicians to troubleshoot facility systems or equipment failures.
- Oversee building electrical systems including lighting, fire protection alarm systems, heating / cooling, and security.
- Lead and support design teams through conceptual, preliminary, and final design of station projects; perform engineering studies and manage project budgets and schedules.
- Prepare specifications, evaluate bids, and recommend materials and contractors.
- Assist in preparing and managing the maintenance and facilities budget, monitor expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards; conduct safety inspections and support emergency response planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and facility efficiency; collaborate with engineering and production teams on capital projects and upgrades using Lean, TPM, or Six Sigma methodologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Professional Engineer (PE) license and advanced degree are pluses.Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and building systems.Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to emergencies.Project management experience, including planning, budgeting, and execution.Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.Benefits
