Assistant Controller Assistant Controller
Position Overview
The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and contributing to budget and forecasting processes, particularly within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Collaborate with project managers to track job costing and financial performance of construction projects.
- Manage and oversee the union payroll processes, ensuring compliance with labor agreements.
- Support the month-end closing process by ensuring accurate journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts, providing insights based on WIP and project financials.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions.
- Work closely with external auditors during annual audits and assist in resolving any issues.
- Provide guidance to junior accounting staff and assist in their professional development.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus in the construction industry preferred.Strong knowledge of job costing and WIP accounting practices.Experience with financial reporting and month-end close processes.Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, or similar ERP systems.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.CPA designation is a plus.Benefits
