This position has a hybrid work schedule with an average 2 days per week in the corporate office located in Knoxville.
Overview
The Business Analyst Arbitration Strategy is responsible for the analysis, reporting, and documentation of outcomes as required for the business' vision and needs. This role will focus on supporting the Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process under the No Surprises Act and relevant state regulations, with a primary emphasis on analyzing outcomes after arbitration. This role provides actionable insights to improve future IDR submissions, enhance negotiation strategies, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization. This position is part of the billing centers and billing support departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze post-arbitration outcome data, including financial awards, payer / provider win rates, and time to resolution
- Review and analyze out of network paid claims that are not selected for a dispute resolution process to evaluate opportunities to expand coverage
- Identify patterns and trends in arbitration decisions to inform business strategy
- Recommend changes to future IDR submissions and negotiation approaches based on outcome analysis
Reporting and Communication
Prepare and present outcome analysis reports for executive leadership, finance, and operations leadershipDevelop and maintain dashboards using Sigma and Excel; adapt to other data visualization tools as neededCommunicate complex findings in a clear, concise manner tailored to various stakeholder audiencesProcess Improvement
Propose process changes, such as adjustments to negotiation strategies or documentation standards, based on trends in arbitration outcomesCollaborate with leadership and, when approved, the IDR operations team to implement process improvementsRegulatory Awareness
Maintain awareness of regulatory changes that may impact arbitration outcomes, in coordination with the regulatory compliance teamData Sources and Tools
Work with data from Athena IDX, ETM, Snowflake, and Sigma dashboardsLeverage advanced Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge of mid-level SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze dataQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field requiredMinimum of three years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar analytical roleStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify actionable insightsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelUnderstand mid-level SQL queriesExperience with additional data visualization tools is a plusExperience monitoring dashboards and working with application teams to modify current dashboards and develop new dashboards (Sigma, Excel)Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to all levels of the organizationSelf-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesDemonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without direct authorityExperience in healthcare billing, revenue cycle management, or IDR for out-of-network medical claim disputes is highly preferredJob Benefits
