Responsibilities
- Lead the hydropower engineering practice in the SoCal area and guide client and business development activities for the hydropower segment.
- Lead or support proposals and pursuits, participate as a project manager or technical lead on projects, and help grow the local SoCal team.
- Collaborate with SoCal Resources and Water teams, as well as the National Hydropower Practice and Power Sector teams, to develop and execute a hydropower growth plan.
- Engage in engineering business development activities including proposal development as champion or reviewer; actively participate in the hydropower industry through professional groups.
- Oversee and coordinate hydropower staff within SoCal's Resources and Water teams and with the National Hydropower Practice; develop growth strategies and multi-year hiring plans aligned with opportunities.
- Provide project oversight and client engagement through periodic reviews and as Principal-In-Charge on select projects; serve as project manager on strategic, complex projects.
Operations and Leadership
Grow and manage hydro engineering and design teams in SoCal, coordinate activities across hydropower staff, and support successful project execution.Foster client satisfaction, career growth, and long-term client relationships; participate in growth planning and execution activities.Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Master's in Engineering or Business Administration a plus.CA Professional Engineering registration (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil).15 years of relevant experience, including 10 years in hydropower, dam safety, or related areas.Active involvement in professional or industry associations; strong business development and client relationship skills.Proven ability to manage multi-discipline project teams and to execute projects on schedule and within budget while maintaining client satisfaction.Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to navigate a matrix organization.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.10 years of experience.Committed to quality, HDR values, and maintaining professional / engineering registration.Experience in development and management of diverse teams and cross-functional collaboration with area leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.Active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture is a must.What We Believe
