POSITION : Resident Education Coordinator
COMPENSATION :
Pursuant to CA regulations, if this job is performed in CA, the salary range is $30-$33 per hour, plus bonus potential.

REPORTS TO : Community Director
SUMMARY :
The Residence Education Coordinators will use their passion for people to lead a team of student advocates to support the goals, values, mission, and vision of the College. These roles are accountable for providing leadership to the residence hall in a way that maintains a positive, student-centered, multicultural and learning-oriented community.
The Residence Education Coordinator is a live-on position. Primary responsibilities of this role include supervision of the Resident Advisor staff, collaboration with other building staff in the daily operations and administration of the building, and facilitating conduct and crisis response interventions.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS :
- Undergraduate degree required, Master's preferred, with a minimum of two years of resident director or community manager experience, or an equivalent combination.
- Ability and willingness to work up to six days per week for necessary level of management coverage.
- Ability and willingness to reside in staff apartment (live-on position).
- Assume "on-call" responsibility for assigned buildings on a scheduled basis.
- Requires an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Values and fosters a sensitive and supportive approach to a diverse working and living environment.
- Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in Microsoft Office, Maxient, and housing management systems such as Entrata or equivalent preferred.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to) :
Staff Supervision
Recruits, selects, trains, and evaluates Resident AdvisorsCoordinates weekly staff meetings to provide relevant information and clear communication to Resident AdvisorsConducts one-on-one meetings with staff membersMonitors and maintains duty rotation systemProvides staff members guidance about College policies and proceduresIn conjunction with the Community Director, creates and manages Resident Advisor on-call and staffing scheduleCommunity Development
Establishes a strong, positive learning environment within the residence and the College communityLeads staff and students in implementing the Community Development ModelWorks with students in developing floor / building communities conducive for academic achievementProvides leadership in creating a community that supports students of underrepresented and diverse populationsEducates staff and students to self-enforce policies and respect the rights of others through community standardsActively advises Resident Advisor staff, including providing training and resource information to staff and Hall Council in program development and implementationEncourages maximum participation in programs and community development activitiesAssesses and evaluates program outcomesStudent Relationships
Maintains a high level of visibility and actively develops relationships with residents.Serves as a resource or referral for information concerning College lifeContributes to recruitment and retention programs and initiativesServes as an educational partner by working with : Dean of Students Office, Housing & Residential Education, Academic Counseling, Career Center, Student Health Center, Student Life and other offices as appropriateStudent Conduct
Clearly communicates, interprets and enforces housing and College policies to staff and students in conjunction with the College's student conduct process, Behavioral Intervention Team and Title IX OfficeEnsures team members are appropriately confronting and documenting behavioral issues and concernsReviews all incident and police reports and communicates with Dean of Students office, as neededAdjudicates student conduct cases (in conjunction with Dean of Students office), tracks sanction completion, refers cases as needed and coordinates and consults with the Dean of Students office regarding high level conduct cases or ongoing situations of concernRefers all mental health concerns to appropriate resources and maintains thorough DocumentationCrisis Management
Provides leadership during crises in the residence and in the greater campus communityServes in on-call rotation with fellow Residence Education Coordinator to provide after-hours response to emergenciesLearns and follows institutional guidelines regarding emergenciesCoordinates emergency procedures (e.g. power outage, fire drills, earthquake drills, medical emergencies, bomb threats, etc.)Trains staff and educates residents about emergency proceduresMaintains appropriate communication with OCC Campus SafetyThe responsibilities listed above are not all inclusive. Routine local travel is required to attend training classes, client visits, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all of the daily responsibilities of this position. Overnight travel required to attend training, property visits, and other situations necessary for the accomplishment of special projects that may be assigned from time to time.
