Natcap Operations Manager

The Natural Capital Project (NatCap) operates as a partnership between Stanford University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of Minnesota, the Stockholm Resilience Centre, The Nature Conservancy, and the World Wildlife Fund. NatCap's mission is to pioneer science, technology, and partnerships that enable people and nature to thrive. We do this to help make the world a more livable place; to secure human well-being with thriving ecosystems; to harmonize conservation and human development goals, by developing scientific tools and technology to model and map the distribution of biodiversity and to demonstrate the services provided by ecosystems. NatCap at Stanford is located within the Woods Institute of the Environment within the Doerr School of Sustainability.
The purpose of the NatCap Operations Manager role is to provide leadership and management for NatCap operations and build strong partnerships with other entities-within and outside of Stanford. This position will support researchers, faculty, and engagement leads in executing their core work by overseeing programmatic and operational details and creating an environment where academic innovation and impact can flourish. The position will report to NatCap's Executive Director and will be part of NatCap's leadership team.
The NatCap Operations Manager will shape and implement strategies, manage activities and staff, and plan and execute multifaceted programs. They will oversee the administration and operations of various programs and projects, ensuring compliance with policies and alignment with organizational objectives. The NatCap Operations Manager will foster collaboration and resource development by cultivating partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, they will mentor and manage a professional team, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence within the organization.

To be successful in this position, you will need :
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines. Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness. Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals. Demonstrated solid planning and organizational skills. Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Strong relevant subject matter knowledge. Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.
In addition, our preferred qualifications include : Significant (8+ years) experience in operations and program management with at least 4 years of Stanford experience. Familiarity with contract negotiations, ideally with both academic institutions and International Finance Institutions (IFIs). Attention to detail, problem-solving, logistical prowess, can-do attitude.
The expected pay range for this position is $120,038 to $153,486 per annum.
The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
