Field Supervisor
Field Supervisor serve as official university liaisons, providing guidance, mentorship, and formal supervision for principal intern candidates throughout their clinical practicum experiences. The Field Supervisor's core duties are to oversee candidate progress, ensure high-quality field-based experiences, and support the development of leadership competencies as outlined by both Prairie View A&M University and State of Texas education standards. In addition, field supervisors will attend initial and ongoing training provided by Prairie View A&M University. Travel to assigned field sites as required; reliable transportation is necessary. Must commit to regular availability for on-campus meetings, site visits, and prompt electronic communications.
Responsibilities :
Conduct a minimum of three formal, structured observations per semester of each intern, using state-adopted appraisal instruments and university rubrics. Provide written and verbal feedback following each observation, targeting growth in instructional leadership, organizational management, and school culture.
Offer consistent professional guidance, goal-setting assistance, and individualized support to interns, fostering reflective leadership practices and problem-solving skills.
Maintain ongoing communication and positive collaboration with site mentors, campus administrators, and district supervisors to ensure experiences align with program goals and the Texas Principal Standards.
Monitor and verify completion of program requirements (logs, reflections, plans); submit timely observation reports, mid-term and final evaluations, and other required documentation to the university.
Adhere to ethical guidelines, maintain confidentiality, and model professional conduct at all times; ensure field activities comply with Texas Administrative Code, Prairie View A&M University policies, and relevant accreditation requirements.
Identify intern strengths and areas for growth, initiate intervention strategies as needed and provide resources to support intern development. Serve as the first point of contact for intern concerns or issues in the field.
Required Education & Experience :
Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of three years of campus or district-level leadership experience.
Prior experience mentoring or supervising educators preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Valid Texas Principal or Administrator certification.
Knowledge of the Texas Principal Standards and instructional leadership best practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
