Administrative Manager

Supervises the work of administrative support staff and manages administrative processes for division / department. Makes decisions that are responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with department / WashU policies and procedures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Supervises and evaluates administrative support staff.
  • Plans and allocates resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work necessary to meet productivity and quality goals.
  • Plans, evaluates, and improves the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
  • Reports on status and progress for areas goals and objectives.
  • Acts as liaison for the division / department with various partners inside and outside of the University to assure compliance with policies, implementation of new policies and accuracy of data.
  • Supervises and manages the processes for various administration functions which may include duties such as assisting faculty and postdoc researchers, coordinating support and coverage during leaves / absences, billing compliance workflow, audits, and reviews; assisting with academic and student program process management.
  • Plans events (seminars, conferences, ceremonies, receptions, lectures, symposia) as necessary.
  • Schedules trainings and / or other refresher sessions for employees as needed.
  • Oversees communications : websites, newsletters, brochures, publications; works with Department IT support and Department Communications on technology and strategies.
  • Coordinates grant and financial activities with division / department accounting / grant administrators.
  • Works to ensure compliance with all deadlines and requirements.
  • Coordinates Faculty onboarding with Department HR team and assists as applicable tenure cases and promotions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Salary Range : $49,700.00 - $82,100.00 / Annually

    The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
