Student Administrative Assistant
Tacoma Community College is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to support daily operations, special projects, and campus engagement initiatives in the Office of the President. This position provides hands-on experience in administrative support, event coordination, and professional communication within a fast-paced executive office environment. The student employee will gain valuable insight into college leadership and operations while contributing to meaningful campus projects.
This is an in-person position reporting to the Administrative Operations Coordinator in the Office of the President.
Essential Functions
- Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, copying, scanning, and organizing office materials.
- Provide front desk coverage, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and directing inquiries.
- Assist with student town halls and other events, including preparing materials, setting up the space, and managing event logistics.
- Assist with maintaining organized office spaces, supply inventory, and shared work areas.
- Draft and send email reminders and announcements as directed.
- Help manage scheduling logistics (room reservations, meeting set-up). Update and maintain databases, contact lists, and other office records.
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
- Other duties as assigned in support of the President's Office.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
Must be a current student enrolled at Tacoma Community College.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Good communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work professionally and respectfully with students, employees, and visitors.Dependable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite Ability to follow directions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.Preferred Qualifications :
Prior experience in an office, administrative, or customer support setting.Experience supporting events or outreach activities.Familiarity with data entry, record-keeping, or office management systems.Positive attitude, proactive mindset, and willingness to learn new skills.Experience using email communication tools for professional correspondence.Educational benefits to be derived by students in this job :

Scheduled to work up 16 hours per week and on a quarter-by-quarter basis. The work location is the TCC main campus, Office of the President in building 12. The salary is $20.00 per hour. TCC Part-time hourly and student employees including work study students, will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked.
