Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 4650) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and helps develop a sales culture through guest service and product knowledge. This role supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns promptly and courteously, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, apply selling behaviors, and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships to drive sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases / returns accurately using the POS system; handle receipts and ensure high-quality guest service.
- Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and train store associates in policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Observe performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with company standards.
- Provide recognition and feedback to associates; log timely feedback in Workday / HR systems in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening / closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
- Schedule associates to meet guidelines, ensure breaks / meals are accounted for, and supervise staffing for optimal guest service.
- Approve payroll and manage paid time off; verify time worked and pay accuracy.
- Maintain clean, organized, and merchandised store areas; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing; report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; perform required administrative and operational duties.
- Conduct store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize products to ensure accurate representation.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and manage cash deposits per guidelines.
- Verify shipments, record discrepancies, conduct inventories, and communicate issues to management.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls; label boxes with packing lists.
- Maintain safety awareness; address hazards and report injuries per guidelines.
- Maintain store records / files; ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager's absence.
- Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow opening / closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Skills & Abilities
Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills; provide individualized assistance to guests.Clear verbal and written communication; English proficiency; bilingual English / Spanish preferred.Able to work in a fast-paced environment; work independently and in a team; meet performance expectations.Operate POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills; complete paperwork properly.Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days / week availability.Ability to handle pressure, be a problem solver, reliable and trustworthy; able to work alone and stand / move up to 12 hours per day.Physical ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, and lift up to 30 lbs.; on military-base locations, may require knowledge of military ranks and insignia.Job descriptions are subject to change at any time based on business needs. Benefits : Full-time store positions may be eligible for incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Bonus and / or other incentives may apply.
Compensation : $10.75 - $14.75
