Position Summary :
The Millwork Estimator is responsible for preparing clear, detailed, and competitive estimates for commercial millwork and cabinetry projects. This includes reviewing architectural drawings and specifications, preparing material and labor takeoffs, and producing accurate bids from $5,000 up to $2M+. You will collaborate with our project managers, drafters, and shop team to ensure smooth project handoff once jobs are awarded.
Key Responsibilities :
Review project invitations, architectural drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate estimates.Break down millwork into components, assign material, fabrication, finishing, and installation costs.Prepare detailed takeoffs and pricing for projects of varying sizes.Work with the sales and project management team to pursue and win profitable projects.Clearly communicate with clients during the bid process to clarify scope, answer questions, and provide revisions.Set up awarded projects for smooth transition to project management and drafting / engineering.Maintain knowledge of AWI standards, construction methods, and industry trends.Manage multiple bids under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and thoroughness.Qualifications :
Minimum 3 years of experience in millwork estimating (required).Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and shop drawings.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, takeoffs, unit conversions).Experience with Bluebeam (takeoffs, slip sheets, markups).Solid understanding of commercial millwork construction methods and materials.Excellent math skills, attention to detail, and strong written / verbal communication.Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.Work Environment :
Location : Savage, MN – onsite at Signature Woodworking shop & office.This is primarily an office-based role, but regular interaction with the shop and project management teams is required.Opportunity to work remotely part-time.
