Job Description – Vortex Spinning Technician

Position Summary

Vortex Spinning Technician is responsible for performing all general repairs and assigned PMs on the Spinning Frames. Must be proficient in the use of hand tools.

Essential Functions

  • Perform duties in a safe manner utilizing all required personal protection equipment.

    • Position Responsibilities

  • Patrols job repairing flagged ends and performing all general repairs on Vortex Spinning Frames.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair all breakdowns
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on spinning frames. Fill out PM checklist
  • Check machine and waste IDs daily
  • Technician must be capable of making changes to the spinning frames for samples, lot changes and count changes
  • Make necessary adjustments to machine to ensure a quality product
  • Provide lab with yarn samples as needed for quality checks or as needed for lot set-up
  • Must be available for overtime when required
  • Remove waste from spinning area in accordance with plant waste reduction and control procedures
  • Replace missing, worn and broken parts as needed
  • Make sure machine is locked out before any work occurs
  • Make proper adjustments to ensure a quality product
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    • Essential Skills and Experience

  • Standing - 7 1 / 2 hours concrete floor
  • Climbing – Uses 3 step ladder to perform some duties
  • Moving - moves about in an area covering Vortex spinning frames while performing duties
  • Moving Materials – Carries supplies from supply room to Vortex spinning area. Moves tools between spinning locations. Removes waste to staging area.
  • Hearing / Speaking - must be able to communicate with can haulers, operators and Shift Supervisor
  • Reaching – Must reach approximately 5-6 feet while working on machinery
  • Visual Acuity -
  • Must be able to read printed material, machinery ID and displays
  • Must be able to see Quality and Mechanical problems
  • Must not be color blind
  • Bending / Stooping – Frequent bending and stooping while performing duties.
  • Lifting – Assists in lifting machine parts up to 75 to 100 lbs.

    • Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Prerequisites Mandatory : Must be able to read job instructions.
  • Must be able to understand instruction from supervision
  • Preferred : Be able to pass screening and evaluation
  • Demonstrated or tested mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to use and understand basic mechanic hand tools and gauges
  • Ability to use and understand maintenance and technical manuals
  • Ability to use standard calculator and perform necessary functions for count and style changeovers
  • Preferred : H.S. or G.E.D.

    • Monday- Friday 7 : 00am-3 : 00pm
