Property Tax Deductions And Credits Support Specialist
This position provides first-line customer support and education for taxpayers regarding claims for property tax deductions and credits; requests for property tax liability information and supporting detail; tax sale notice and redemption information; and deduction and ownership status. This position provides detailed analysis of property tax issues, including performing complex mathematical tax calculations and assisting customers with interpreting complicated State property tax statutes and guidance. Position also interfaces daily with a variety of highly technical tax software applications. The position also fulfills public records requests, answers telephones; greets visitors; assists customers in completing deduction appeal and / or claim forms. Position requires the knowledge of established policies and procedures and must rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assignments in a timely manner with a high emphasis on data accuracy. Other duties and tasks are routine in nature and performed under moderate supervision. Position reports to the Real Estate Manager.
The purpose and mission of the Marion County Auditor's Office is to provide oversight, management, and processing of city and county financial transactions. These include, but are not limited to, property deductions, refunds, and settlement with the units of government, vendor invoices, revenue receipts, payroll and related tax withholdings and all other applicable processing of revenues and expenditures of the city and county.
