Role and Responsibilities
As CFO you will lead both financial operations and sales efforts, ensuring the company achieves profitability, growth, and operational excellence. The CFO will oversee financial strategy, optimize cash flow, and drive business development—playing a pivotal role in expanding the company's market presence and revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company goals and growth in the public and private construction sectors
- Advise the CEO and executive team on financial planning, forecasting, and capital investment
- Participate in strategic decisions including market expansion, project selection, and partnership opportunities
2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
Lead the preparation of annual budgets and multi-year financial forecastsAnalyze and report on financial performance, including variances and project profitabilityProvide regular financial statements and executive summaries for leadership and stakeholders3. Construction Job Costing & Project Financial Oversight
Oversee job costing systems to ensure accurate tracking of labor, materials, subcontractors, and overheadManage WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules, revenue recognition, and percentage-of-completion accountingPartner with project managers to monitor budgets, control costs, and ensure financial success of each project4. Cash Flow & Capital Management
Monitor and manage day-to-day cash flow, working capital, and liquidityMaintain strong banking relationships and secure financing, bonding, and credit lines for projectsEnsure timely billing, collections, and subcontractor / vendor payments5. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., prevailing wage, certified payroll)Manage financial audits, insurance coverage, and bonding requirementsImplement and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies to mitigate ris6. Financial Systems & Process Improvement
Implement Sage / Procore and other Accounting programsImprove efficiency of accounting operations, reporting processes, and financial data accuracyLeverage technology to automate workflows and support real-time project insights7. Team Development & Leadership
