Project Controls and Scheduling Engineer
F.A. Wilhelm Construction is hiring for a Project Controls and Scheduling Engineer. This role focuses on planning, scheduling, progress measurement, and analysis for a single major project or a portfolio of projects. The position aims to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with quality that meets or exceeds expectations, supporting the company's success and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Develop, monitor, and update integrated project plans and schedules to maximize efficiency; track schedule deviations and variances and assist in developing corrective actions.
- Review schedules with project team members regularly to ensure accurate and timely data is incorporated.
- Analyze schedules from A / E firms, vendors, and general contractors; verify schedule integrity, evaluate logic and float paths, and analyze change orders for schedule impacts.
- Perform jobsite walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities.
- Collaborate with project disciplines to ensure accuracy and completeness of schedules while maintaining independence to advise management on issues requiring judgment.
- Balance multiple projects across locations and contractors; prioritize multiple priorities effectively.
- Provide interface and quality assurance to project functional groups and contractors regarding schedule performance tracking and reporting.
The Successful Candidate Possesses
Excellent verbal, written, and technical communication skills; ability to communicate with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state / provincial, and federal / national statutes and guidelines.Attention to detail and time-conscious, time-effective work habits.Knowledge of Project Controls processes and best practices (a plus).Ability to read and understand construction drawings;Ability to sequence construction projects in relation to the installation order of MEP systems.Ability to build a schedule from the ground up using construction drawings, renderings, or single-line diagrams.Willingness to provide examples of previously scheduled projects and discuss how and why the schedule was set up as it was.Minimum Requirements
Basic working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).Proficient with scheduling / document management databases (e.g., P6, Procore).Advanced knowledge of general construction methods (concrete, ironwork, masonry, etc.).Education : Accredited four-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or related field.Experience : 1–5 years in the construction industry.Must understand safety requirements of each job and wear appropriate PPE as required by company policies.Key Attributes
