Salary : $57,900 -$63,100 per annum

Location : New York, NY / Hybrid - 2 days a week in the office

Contract : Fixed term, 12 months / Full time (35 hours per week)

CambridgeUniversityPress& Assessment is currently recruiting to fill an AssociateDevelopmentEditor position with the Higher Education team. Based in New York, NY, this is an ideal opportunity for someone who wishes to further their publishing career and knowledge. Working with a team of friendly and collaborative Development Editors in Cambridge, UK, and in New York, this position will provide a strong grounding in the principles of textbook development and lay an excellent foundation for a career in textbook publishing.

About the role

As an Associate Development Editor, you will be :

• Working on a wide range of projects, both print and digital, across disciplinesfromscience,technologyand math (STM) andhumanitiesand social sciences (HSS).
• Constructing development plan for each assigned project, working in conjunction with the line manager and the commissioning editor.
• Developing the assigned projects so that they are published on time, within budget, and with the suitable online resources for both instructors and students.
• Reading content and providing detailed manuscript feedback to authors.
• Conducting peer review and market research.
• Developing a good understanding of the technical and content requirements for each assigned project, including accessibility requirements.
• Participating and / or leading author meetings with confidence and professionalism.
• Establishing good relationships within the wider Higher Education team : Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Content Management, and Digital Strategy.

About you

We are looking for an individual educated to degree level or equivalent, who has a demonstrable passion for Higher Education textbook publishing and equity and inclusivity in learning materials. You will have excellent line editing skills, familiarity with structural editing as well as the ability to look at a manuscript creatively and critically. You will also have very strong project management experience, with the ability to juggle tasks for projects at different stages. You will be an excellent and authoritative communicator, both in speaking and writing. Good IT skills, especially proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel, and good written and verbal communication skills are also essential. Any experience with learning software would be an advantage.
