Certified Grounds Maintenance / Custodian

Employees in this position perform maintenance duties on the campus grounds and related equipment and interior cleaning and maintenance.

Grounds work schedule : Monday Friday, 7 : 00AM 3 : 30PM approximately April 15 through October 15.

Typical custodial services schedule : Monday Friday, 5 : 00AM 1 : 30PM approximately October 15 through April 15. (Employees may be reassigned to Grounds during the winter months for snow emergencies or to Custodial Services during the growing season to meet departmental needs at peak hours).

The full-scale wage for the position Certified Grounds Maintenance / Custodian is $27.17 per hour. New employees will be hired with a one-year training period. At the start of the training period, wages are reduced by $2.00 per hour from the base classification rates. Employees will receive a $1.00 per hour increase after six months, and another $1.00 per hour increase after twelve months.

Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities

Grounds :

• Capable of performing all duties related to the maintenance and improvement of college grounds, including turf, landscape plantings and structures, walks, roads, and athletic fields on a seasonal basis.
• Maintenance, accurate record keeping of service intervals, and routine trouble shooting and repair of related equipment. Identify needs for periodic and major equipment repair and maintenance.
• Adaptability to flex work schedule and temporary schedule changes, particularly for snow removal, storm damage, flooding, and other emergencies or special events.
