Nursing Unit Coordinator

Overview

The Iowa Medical and Classification Center (IMCC) is a multi-faceted correctional institution that serves the male reception center for the Iowa Department of Corrections as well as housing a forensic psychiatric hospital, short term ambulatory / long term ambulatory (STA / LTA) and mental health units.

To ensure that IMCC provides the best services and creates opportunities for safer communities, applicants should demonstrate exceptional communication skills, integrity and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and conducting vision screenings.
• Administer medications as prescribed and document patient information in the medical record in accordance with Department of Corrections (DOC) standards.
• Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Maintain accurate medical records, scan documents, and schedule and coordinate both on-site and off-site appointments.
