Job Description
This is the 10-speed RWD transmission systems engineer position responsible for integration into vehicle space. We are looking for a self-starter who owns the product and delivers the cost, quality and vehicle milestone requirements on time. Qualified people help us succeed in this critical area, responsible from program initiation through launch.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a PD engineer responsible for 10-speed RWD transmissions and their integration into vehicle spaces. Responsible for overall program delivery while meeting functional, cost, quality and timing targets.
- Work with internal component D&Rs from both UNSE and ESE to lead overall internal systems design.
- Manage warranty report out and cross-functional issues with component team.
- Take ownership of the DV and PV strategies to deliver a best-in-class powertrain system.
- Work as a team to improve part quality and increase the customer experience.
- Own and deliver transmission system-level assessments and evidence for key GPDS milestones.
- Lead key life test and other dyno testing requirements and execution of system signoff requirements.
- Must be in Livonia, Michigan 4 days a week or more depending on specific testing / hardware needs.
- Work with Ford Powertrain Manufacturing and Ford Vehicle Assembly Plants on manufacturing-related improvement actions. Short-term travel may be required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.2 years of automotive transmission or powertrain experience.1 year of calibration and vehicle data collection knowledge.Even Better, You May Have
Master's degree in engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.Strong GPDS (Global Product Development System) knowledge.Desire and ability to lead cross-functional working teams.Vehicle repair or vehicle diagnostics background.Cal tools experience preferred, ATI, INCA, ETAS, etc.CAE / FEA, fluid CFD and other analytical tools.Electrical component or electrical system experience.Ford design / release experience.Hands-on problem solver and strong root cause skills.Independent, self-starter when required.Good communicator and can foster relationships with PTO / VO plants, calibration and component engineers.A "be curious" and "continuous improvement" mindset.Benefits
