Employees must be tobacco free and cannot use tobacco products on or off duty.
Note : All sworn police officers must maintain a current, valid proof of eligibility or basic certificate issued from CA POST in compliance with Penal Code 13510.1 and Government Code 1029. If the police officer's proof of eligibility or basic certificate is revoked or decertified, they are no longer qualified to perform their job duties and employment may be terminated.
Please note : Copies of P.O.S.T. Certificates, P.O.S.T Basic Waivers, Academy Graduate Certificates, and Academy Enrollment Letters must be submitted when you complete your application. The City of Roseville defines "accredited college or university" as an institution of higher learning and must be listed on the United States Department of Education Database of Accredited Post-Secondary Institutions and Programs website. Credits earned from listed institutions will be considered as part of the educational component of the minimum qualifications. Foreign education evaluations may be accepted from listed agencies; see http : / / www.naces.org or http : / / www.aice-eval.org. If offered a position, applicants must provide a foreign degree credential equivalency certificate from an approved agency.
SELECTION PROCESS :
All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination. The applicant's experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations.
Final appointment is contingent upon : a check of past employment references, a City-paid fingerprint check, and depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and / or education verification, psychological examination, and an extensive Police Department background check process.
